The Romanian athlete David Popovici won the gold medal in the 200-meter free, on Thursday, at the European Under-23 swim championships (Slovakia), with 1 min 43 sec 64/100.

Popovici was faster by almost three seconds than the next ranking, the Bulgarian Petătăr Mit (1: 46.48), the bronze medal returning to the British Charlie Hutchison (1: 46.84).
The Olympic champion had obtained the best time in the series, Thursday morning, 1 min 46 sec 84/100.
At 800 m free female, Rebecca-Aimee Diaconescu took the fourth place, in 8 min 36 sec 84/100. The continental title was won by the Germana Maya Werner (8: 29.53), the silver returned to the Polish Klaudia Tarasiewicz (8: 33.93), the podium being completed by Greeka Artemis Vasilaki (8: 34.35), according to Agerpres.
In the final at 200 m back, Alexandru Constantinescu occupied the last place (eight), with 2 min 01 sec 23/100. He had been recorded with a better time in series (2: 00.58).
