Jeremy Clarkson, one of Britain’s best-known TV presenters and the iconic figure of the show Top Gear, has revealed that he has been diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of cancer.
The announcement was made in the last two episodes of season 5 of the show “Clarkson’s Farm”available on the Prime Video platform. In a chat with his colleagues, Charlie Ireland and Kaleb Cooper, Clarkson made the confession that surprised everyone.
“I have cancer,” the presenter told them. Visibly shocked, Kaleb Cooper asked him, “No, you don’t. Where?”. Clarkson declined to elaborate on the condition and responded: “Where he is is nobody’s business. I’ve known that since May.”
The presenter explained that he was absent for a while because he underwent medical investigations, including a biopsy. After the tests, the doctors confirmed his diagnosis.
“I had a biopsy done. I was told it was an aggressive form of cancer, but luckily it was caught at a very early stage.” Clarkson stated.
He stated that he is to be operated, the intervention is not a long-term one, but the recovery will require a period of rest.
“I’m going to have to go and have an operation; the operation itself takes very little time, but your body is down for a short time,” he explained.
In footage aired on the show, Clarkson appears in a hospital bed and talks about the challenges she’s going through. He noted that the season started and ends in the same place.
“Season 5 started with me in a hospital bed and now we’re at the end of season 5 and I’m back in a hospital bed”the presenter said.
Clarkson revealed that part of the treatment didn’t go according to plan and made a statement that moved fans.
“If the next round of treatment is successful, we’ll see you in season 6, and if not, we won’t see you,” he stated.
Before the final episodes of “Clarkson’s Farm” aired, the host also posted a video on Instagram, in which he warned his followers that the season finale is “very very difficult” emotionally.
