The 2024 edition spotlights 145 next-generation artists, architects and designers
DIPLOMA Show, the festival of the new generation of Romanian artists, architects and designers, organized by The Institute, a cultural project financed by the Ministry of Culture and realized with the support of Sector 1 of the Municipality of Bucharest, starts on Friday, October 4, 2024.
This year the festival is in its 11th edition and celebrates creativity through a unique mix of activities, from exhibitions to socializing contexts, masterclasses, an art and design fair and outdoor experiences.
The festival that takes place between October 4 and 13 in the building of the former CINA restaurant, located on Benjamin Franklin Street, no. 10, Bucharest, presents 145 emerging artists, selected from a number of 480 entries from 18 different creative categories, such as: fashion, interior design, architecture, painting, graphic design, photo-video, object design and many others.
Access to the festival is free, with pre-registration here. The exhibition can be visited from Monday to Friday, between 16:00 and 22:00, and on the two weekends – between 12:00 and 22:00. The opening of the festival takes place on October 4, starting at 19.00. The other activities and events within the festival have a dedicated program.

In addition to the exhibition itself, DIPLOMA Show 2024 will host a series of events, designed to encourage dialogue and exchange of ideas between the new generation of creators and the general public. The program includes masterclasses, meetings with exhibitors, guest exhibitions, an art and design fair, parties, concerts and other contexts dedicated to creative communities.

For the second consecutive year, those interested in creative fields can participate in the masterclasses on Monday, October 7 DIPLOMA Growa program that offers participants a full day of masterclasses and discussions on topics ranging from developing a career in the creative industries to integrating sustainability principles into artistic practices.
The event will bring to the fore speakers from various fields, who will share experiences, useful tactics and essential tips, offering young creators valuable perspectives for professional development.
AMC artists specializing in video game development will take the stage to provide an overview of the industry. Also present will be Sebastiano Paccini, Ambassador of the Istituto Europeo di Design and founder of the Libri Finti Clandestini project – an experiment in recycling, design and publishing, with the aim of creating books using only recycled paper.
The Masterclass will continue with a panel hosted by the Possible Gallery – Pocket Guide to Applications – a talk aimed at students and recent graduates who want to apply for an open call but are not sure what aspects to emphasize.
The event will end with a discussion about the importance of involving designers and architects in creating projects relevant to the community, but also about the steps necessary to obtain sponsorships for this type of projects, supported by Anca Ioana Ghiorghiu, Group PR & Events Manager. The event, which takes place on Monday, October 7, will conclude with a special screening, made in partnership with Animest 2024.
The invited exhibitions DIPLOMA Show
At DIPLOMA Show 2024, in addition to the 145 works of young Romanian creators, the public will be able to explore a series of guest exhibitions that address various themes and disciplines. These exhibitions highlight collaborations between galleries, international platforms and renowned institutions, offering a unique perspective on contemporary artistic expression.
Among them are: the exhibition Domesticated Dreams / Dana Jiloveanu / presented by Galeria Posibilă, jewelry projects curated by Assamblage – Romanian Jewelry Week x Global Creative Graduate Showcase, the exhibition of works by architecture graduates from SIT_2324 / Shibaura Institute of Technology Tokyo ( SIT) and the exhibition Lullaby for Pain / Nadya Izosimova / presented by Château Purcari, which brings to the fore a young artist from the Republic of Moldova.
Special projects
The Glitch Library is a physical space dedicated to the exchange of ideas, knowledge and experiences between the art & culture and design and communication sectors. At Diploma Show 2024, the Glitch Library brings a selection of titles covering a wide spectrum: from artists working with typography or graphics, to specific graphic design practices – poster, visual identity or illustration.
At the same time, until October 15, the public will be able to visit the Graphic Design Alumni Capsule exhibition, a retrospective of the best graphic design projects participating in the Diploma Show festival in recent years.
Art and design fair
As every year, the Hot Lagoon Fair brings together a new wave of artists, designers and illustrators from Romania, offering a varied range of creations including prints, fanzines, t-shirts, ceramic pieces, stickers, postcards, bags, satchels and author books. Among the exhibitors are also eight artists participating in the DIPLOMA Show. The fair offers the public the opportunity to purchase original objects, created by the young creators present in the festival.
Parties and concerts
The festival promises a memorable urban experience, offering the perfect mix of good music, socializing, tasty drinks and unmissable exhibitions. During the two festival weekends there are parties and concerts, including on October 5 a Live session Jojo Mayer curated by Jazz in the Park and supported by Château Purcari. Access is free upon reservation, subject to availability. In addition to the events of the weekend, participants will enjoy DJ sets, but also an outdoor bar, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The DRIPLOMA collection
For the 2024 edition of the festival, a competition was created for young illustrators and graphic designers from Romania, aged between 18 and 25. The DRIPLOMA contest aims to create the official merch collection of the DIPLOMA Show 2024 edition and registered 24 eligible entries. Following the selection process, the winner – Alexa Lincu – will have the opportunity to see how her creations color the festival.
Through all these initiatives, events and approaches, as every year, the DIPLOMA Show becomes both a unique context in which new talents can present their works to the general public, as well as a meeting and socializing point with other professionals in the artistic world.
