The film “New Year that was not”, directed by Bogdan Mureşanu, received the Gopo trophy for the best feature film, at the 19th edition of the Gopo Awards Gala, which was held on Tuesday evening, at the “IL Caragiale” National Theater.
The director Bogdan Mureşanu received the prize from actress Rodica Mandache, winning, at the 2024 edition, of a prize for the entire activity.
“I am flooded with immense joy, because I did not expect to get here in any form. No one makes movies, it does not launch this madness with the thought that it will get somewhere, once to talk to an audience of this type. You think you like it, it is a great thing.”said director Bogdan Mureşanu.
Other nine prizes for the “New Year that was”
In addition to the prize for best feature film, “New Year who was not “received nine prizes, respectively: the prize for best director; the prize for best actor in a leading role; the prize for the best actress in a leading role; the prize for best makeup and best hairstyle; the prize for the best decorations; the prize for best sound; the best award;

The prize for the best decorations – Iulia Fulicea and Victor Fulicea for the movie “New Year that was not”;
The prize for best sound – Sebastian Zsemlye for the movie “New Year that was not”;
“Young Hope” Prize – Ciprian Chiujdea for the role of Adi from the movie “Three kilometers to the end of the world”;
The prize for the best costumes – Viorica Petrovici for the movie “Mare Week”;
The prize for the best short fiction – “@ tiktok Cowboy”, directed by Stefan Anastaseu;
The prize for the best animation short film – “White Noise”, directed by Alexia -Ioana Badea;
The prize for the best debut film – “New Year that was”, directed by Bogdan Mureşanu;
The prize for the best actress in a secondary role – Alina Berzunţeanu for the role of Simona Petrescu from the film “Three kilometers to the end of the world”;
The prize for best actor in a secondary role – Ciprian Chiricheş for the role of Gheorghiţă in the movie “Mare”;
The prize for the best assembly – Vanja Kovačević and Mircea Lăcătuş for the movie “New Year that was not”;
The prize for the best documentary film – “Alice On & Off”, directed by Isabela Ţenţ;
The prize for the best European film – “The Zone of Interest” distributed by Bad Unicorn;
The prize for the best original music – Marius Leftrache and Nikita Dembinski for the movie “Nasty”;
The prize for the best image – Andrei Butica for the movie “Mare Week”;
The prize for the best scenario – Bogdan Mureşanu for the movie “New Year that was not”;
The prize for the best actress in a leading role – Nicoleta Hâncu for the role of Florina Miu in the movie “New Year that was not”;
The prize for best actor in a leading role – Adrian Văncică for the role of Gelu in the movie “New Year who was not”;
The prize for the best director – Bogdan Mureşanu for the movie “New Year that was not”;
The prize for the best feature film – “New Year that was”, directed by Bogdan Mureşanu.
The Romanian Society of Cinematographers (RSC) prize for the best image was given to Alex Sterian for the movie “Marriage”.
Dan Piţa: “Gopo is good to keep it as close to you”
Director Dan Piţa received, within the Gopo 2025 Awards Gala, the prize for the entire activity. He could not be present at the event but sent a message.
“I am very happy to receive this award. It is for my entire activity, which means about 20 feature films, television series.said director Dan Piţa.
A prize for the entire career was awarded to the actress Ioana Pavelescu.
Laurenciiu Damian described her as “A great actress who painted the screen of the Romanian film with her face. “
Ioana Pavelescu confessed that she loves her job “Until despair”. In his speech, the actress reminded some of those who marked her career, among them Sergiu Nicolaescu, Amza Pellea, Alexandru Tatos, Mircea Albulescu, Gheorghe Dinică, but also the film critic Magda Mihăilescu “Who wrote an extraordinary chronicle”.
“It is very nice to receive applause. Thank you first and foremost Tudor Giurgiu, who loves the actors and we love him. I did not know that prizes are given for the whole career at the beginning of his career.”said Ioana Pavelescu.
An award for the entire activity was handed to the image director Florin Mihăilescu, and a special prize was awarded to the Light Master Ion Olteanu.
The Gopo Awards Gala is organized by the Association for the Promotion of the Romanian Film with the support of the National Center for Cinematography and Babel Communications.
