Joker: Folie à Deux, which was a commercial failure last fall, was nominated for Worst Picture and Worst Sequel.
Traditionally, the winners of the unwanted awards will be announced on March 1, the day before the Oscar gala.
The first film “Joker”, with Joaquin Phoenix in the role of Batman’s nemesis, brought the actor an Oscar. This time, however, he was nominated for the Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Actor. His partner in the film, Lady Gaga, is nominated in the Worst Actress category, according to News.ro.
The film grossed $200 million, about a fifth of its predecessor’s gross.
The Golden Raspberry Awards, a parody, were created in 1981 to poke fun at Hollywood’s culture of self-pity. The winners are announced every year on the eve of the Oscars.
This year’s nominations also include the film “Megalopolis” by Francis Ford Coppola, nominated in six categories. Also, “Madame Web,” a much-mocked superhero movie, also received six nominations. Like the biopic “Reagan” and the video game adaptation “Borderlands.” Jerry Seinfeld’s “Unfrosted,” a surreal story about Pop-Tarts pastries, is nominated in four categories. The nominations for the Oscar awards are expected on Thursday.
