The President of Romania, Nicuşor Dan, published new pictures from the visit he made with his family to Roşia Montană. The head of state went down to the ancient gallery, met with the locals and participated in a campfire. In his message, the president stressed that the area has a huge potential for tourism and community development.
“A warm reception” at Roşia Montană
Nicuşor Dan distributed on Facebook a video of just over a minute, in which he appears with his family at Roşia Montană. The images capture the moments spent in the ancient gallery, but also in the middle of the locals.
“We had a warm reception at Roşia Montană! We must capitalize on this unique UNESCO site, which can bring millions of tourists and development opportunities for the local community”, Wrote the head of state on the social network.
Meetings with the locals and campfire
During the visit, his president photographed with several people, including children, and discussed with the participants in the “Adopt a House” program, an initiative aiming to save the cultural heritage and the traditional community in the area.
The visit ended with a relaxing moment, at a campfire, in which Nicuşor Dan participated with his family and the locals.
Traditional products and memories
Nicuşor Dan said on Wednesday that he was received with dishes prepared in the house of locals. He said that the experience remembered the childhood years.
“Yes, I ate compotes, I drank various juices, bacon, rats, all made in the house, milk milk directly from the cow, all these things, and especially cow’s milk, they reminded me of childhood, when I was at my grandmother. They did not have cows, my grandparents, but they brought from the neighbors.”, Said the president.
The head of state also revealed that he received small gifts from the hosts: a bottle of pump, a jar for children and even a four-leaf clover, given by a representative of the Roman Catholic Church.
“Roşia Montană is a unique site in the world”
In his statements, Nicuşor Dan reaffirmed the importance of the UNESCO site and the huge potential for tourism development.
“I am glad that the development prospects of this locality are increasing. I think for Roşia Montană, as for the other UNESCO sites we have in Romania, we must have a special program, in which to integrate the private, because there are opportunities, so that it is an important component of Romanian tourism. Roşia Montană is a unique site in the world and we have to bring the specialists who can do this site that attracts not 20,000 tourists, but 2,000,000 tourists ”, said the president.

In the previous days, Nicuşor Dan was surprised in a pilgrimage to the Arsenie Boca Monastery, from the Sâmbetei Valley. Also there, the president also visited the base of Salvamont, where he discussed with the mountain rescuers about the problems he faces.
