Video Ponta wants to return to PSD: “I never left, they kicked me out. If they accept me, I’ll come back”

Former PSD leader Victor Ponta told the party Congress that, although he was expelled twice, he never broke with the social-democratic formation and is ready to return if he is welcomed back.

“I never left the PSD. They kicked me out, twice, and each time it turned out that I was right. If they accept me, I’ll come back.” said Victor POnta, before the PSD congress.

He emphasized that PSD remains the party with which he identifies and in which he was formed as a politician.

“I grew up in the PSD, I took on everything with this party and I have no problem coming back if the people there think I can be useful,” Ponta added.

Asked if the PSD performs in government, the former prime minister referred to the reasons that led to his departure from the party.

I hope I will not be kicked out of the PSD for the third time. The first time I said that it is not good to bring down the Grindeanu government. It seems I was right. The second time I said that it is not normal for the PSD to support a candidate that is not related to the party, and I was right. For the third time I say that PSD, governing with USR, will end badly and there is no way they will govern together”, said Victor Ponta.

The Social-Democratic Party elected, on Friday, its new leadership, during an Extraordinary Congress. Sorin Grindeanu was the only candidate for the position of president and obtained more than 2,700 “for” votes.
