The prosecutors of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) of the Constanța Territorial Service have completed their investigations into the case in which the rapper Wiz Khalifa allegedly smoked cannabis on the stage of the “Beach, Please!” festival in July 2024.
The American rapper was sent to court at the Constanța Court for “illegal drug consumption (Law 143/2000 art. 4)”. According to the Act, Wizz Khalifa faces the following penalty: “Cultivating, producing, manufacturing, experimenting, extracting, preparing, transforming, buying or possessing dangerous drugs for personal consumption, without the right, is punishable by imprisonment from 3 months to 2 years or a fine“, and if “the facts concern high-risk drugs, the punishment is imprisonment from 6 months to 3 years”.
The file was registered on October 16 at the Constanța Court.
American rapper Wiz Khalifa, 37 years old, was detained by the police on July 14, 2024 at the “Beach, Please” festival in Costinești, after smoking marijuana on stage during his performance. The police waited for the artist to finish his concert before arresting him.
“In relation to the one in question, it was ordered to initiate the criminal action. From the research, it emerged that he, during a recital held during a music festival held in the resort of Costinești, Constanța county, possessed more than 18 grams of cannabis (a dangerous drug) and consumed (on stage) another amount of cannabis, in the form of a craft cigarette“, the Romanian Police transmitted at the time.
The star was caught smoking a homemade cigarette on stage.
“Last night’s show was amazing. I didn’t want to be disrespectful to Romania by lighting a joint on stage. They were very respectful and let me go. I will be back soon. But no big joint next time“, the rapper Wiz Kahlifa transmitted, through the X network, after he was released by the police and left Romania.
