Video Scandal online after Romanians have talent. The decision to award the Golden Buzz to an 83-year-old contestant, challenged by viewers

Wave of critical reactions in the online environment after the last edition of the show Romanians have talent, broadcast on Friday evening. The decision to award the Golden Buzz to an 83-year-old contestant sparked controversy, with many viewers accusing the choice of being based on life story rather than artistry.

Doina Andronachi, an 83-year-old pensioner, went on stage determined to fulfill an older dream. She told the jurors that music has always been part of her life and that she regrets not attending the Conservatory. The contestant performed the piece in their own style “my house” from Angela Similea’s repertoire.

“I wanted to get on stage, for the world to listen to me. For me, here at Romanians have talent, a new life begins”. said Doina Andronachi before the artistic moment.

The jury reacted positively, and Carmen Tănase appreciated the energy and charisma of the competitor, describing her as “bright, sunny and extremely positive”.

The surprise of the evening came from Mihai Bobonete, who pressed the Golden Buzz button, sending her directly to the semi-finals. Jurors and the audience in the room applauded the moment, but online reactions were very different.

Wave of criticism on social media

Immediately after the broadcast, social media was flooded with negative comments. Many viewers claimed that the Golden Buzz was awarded on emotional basis and that the real talented contestants were ignored.

Netizens compared Doina Andronachi’s moment with the performances of other participants in the same edition – children considered brilliant, acrobats or couples appreciated for their high level of performance – saying that they would have deserved the distinction much more.

“Respect but nowhere near Golden Buzz worthy”, “It’s a show about talent and it’s the real talents that get left out, sad!” or “You have become even more embarrassing, don’t hit the wheelchairs, don’t hit the Ukrainian couple, don’t hit the 9 year old boy… let’s be serious… respect for the lady’s age, but four YES’s were too much, although I don’t know what she will do next…”, these are just some of the messages that appeared online.
