Video The land of snow in the Poiana Ruscă Mountains, crossed by the marble road. The road stops in the middle of the forest, in a fairytale place

The snow covered a thick layer of snow in the Poiana Ruscă Mountains, in the land crossed by the “marble road”, on the border of Hunedoara, Caraș-Severin and Timiș counties. In winter, the place in the mountains is sought after by tourists, but the story of the road that stops in the forest has caused controversy.

For over a decade, the “marble road”, so called because it passes by the marble quarry in Ruschița, has remained accessible in winter only in Hunedoara county, and at the entrance to Caraș-Severin county the road stops on the crest of a hill, in the middle FOREST (video – The Truth).

In winter, after the first snows, the place in the Poiana Ruscă Mountains, located at the foot of the Rusca peak (1355 meters), becomes attractive for sledding enthusiasts and for tourists who come to enjoy the snow and fresh air.

At the end of the road, travelers find, hanging in a tree, the sign announcing the entrance to Caraș-Severin county. The indicator also shows the place where tourists could reach by car, if the snow on the road is not big enough to make their journey difficult.

He has withstood the passage of 11 years since the works on the Hunedoara sector of the Poiana Ruscă Mountains road were completed. In the period 2010 – 2013, the county road Toplița – Lunca Cernii de Sus, 30 kilometers long, a former forest road that crosses several picturesque villages on the Cernii valley in Hunedoara and climbs into the Poiana Ruscă Mountains, up to the border of Hunedoara counties and Caraș-Severin, was modernized.

The roads in the Poiana Ruscă Mountains connect three counties

The authorities in Caraș-Severin announced at the time that they would continue the “marble road” to Rusca Montană, by modernizing the seven kilometers of forest road that descends from the border of Hunedoara and Caraș-Severin counties, in the commune Time has passed, but this did not happen happened before

“This seven-kilometer section was handed over to the Caraș-Severin County Council to modernize it with European funds. It is in the design stage and will be rehabilitated together with another county road sector, from the same area, DJ 684 Voislova – Ruschița, up to Tăul Ursului, on the border of Timiş and Caraş-Severin counties. If it will not be modernized with European funds, by the Caraș Severin County Council, we will take it back into administration and look for solutions to finance the rehabilitation of this section”, says Adrian Sergiu Toma, the mayor of Rusca Montană commune.

If the seven-kilometer section between Hunedoara and Caraș-Severin and the approximately 22-kilometer section between Caraș-Severin and Timiș are modernized, the isolated land in the Poiana Ruscă Mountains, mostly covered by forests, will become an attractive route for tourists, I think the locals, and a shorter connection between the isolated villages of the communes of Rusca Montană (Caraș-Severin), Lunca Cernii de Sus (Hunedoara) and Tomești (Timiş).

The new roads will open the way for tourists to some of the tourist attractions of the mountains in western Romania: the Ruschița marble quarry, the peaks of Rusca and Padeș, the highest peaks of the massif, the archaic villages of the Forests, Tăul Ursului and Transluncani (video).
