A young woman was one step away from a tragedy on a pedestrian crossing in the city of Galați, after a driver did not give her priority and sped off. Another car had already stopped in the adjacent lane to allow him to cross.

According to the first information, the young woman was legally crossing the street, on the pedestrian marking, when a car approached at speed and passed without stopping, although another vehicle, located in the adjacent lane, had stopped to give it priority.
Fortunately, the impact was avoided only at the last moment, and the young woman managed to avoid the road.
After the incident, the driver involved did not stop at the scene and left the area, so the Traffic Police started checks to identify him.
The police are analyzing the images captured by surveillance cameras in the area, as well as possible video recordings made by witnesses, in order to accurately reconstruct the moment.
According to the road legislation in force, failure to give priority to pedestrians legally employed in the crossing is sanctioned with a fine, but also with the application of the complementary sanction consisting in the suspension of the right to drive for a period of 60 days.
