Video The most spectacular skiing area in the country: slopes open daily, before Poiana Brașov. The surprise of the season

The Transalpina-Voineasa Ski Area, in Vâlcea County, has officially opened its doors for a new season, attracting snow adventure enthusiasts from all over the country. With slopes open as early as November 30, 2024, this winter sports paradise promises unforgettable experiences.

Combining the quality of the trails, the modern facilities and the amazing landscapes of the Latorita Mountains, part of the Parâng group, the Transalpina Ski Area brings a long-awaited surprise this season: the opening of a new ski slope.

Starting Thursday, December 12, the facilities will operate daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., depending on weather conditions, giving tourists the opportunity to enjoy snow and fresh air throughout the week.

The announcement comes after a period when the slopes were only accessible on weekends. Since December 1, winter sports lovers have already had the opportunity to enjoy snow and fun on the slopes near Otter Lake, and now, thanks to favorable weather conditions, all visitors can experience memorable adventures, day after day, in the heart of the Southern Carpathians.

“As you know, we opened the ski season again this year from November 30. It was skied in optimal conditions, especially on the main slopes, where we were able to supplement with artificial snow, thus creating a perfect mix. The skiing conditions were excellent. Considering the weather forecasts, we will continue to supplement with artificial snow”said Adrian Epure, the administrator of the Transalpina Voineasa Ski Area in an interview for “The Truth”.

10 slopes and ski trails

The Transalpina Voineasa Ski Area currently has 10 slopes and ski trails, including the newly opened slope this year.

The slope manager explained: “We have six slopes and three ski trails. The difference between them is that the trails are not necessarily serviced by facilities and do not meet the width conditions to be considered slopes. In terms of length, we currently have approximately nine kilometers of approved slopes. To these is added the new ski trail opened this year, which measures four kilometers”.

The surprise of the season – a new 5 km long ski slope

In reality, the new route consists of two sections, with a total length varying between four and five kilometers: “There are two access options for this route – one from Cota 2000, from Ski Lift 1, which follows a level curve and reaches the base of the station, at the departure point of Gondola 1 from Cota 1350, and the other, descends on the section 2 and departs from the final station of Gondola 2. It is a ski trail with a width between 7 and 12 meters and the difference in level is approximately 400-600 meters between the departure and arrival stations. At a certain point, the section intersects with the big slope – Mioarele 1 – and descends to the base”.

So, ski lovers will have the opportunity to explore a new slope that connects the top to the base of the domain, offering a spectacular route through landscapes that will take your breath away.

In order not to repeat the problems of the past years, snow guards were installed

With an altitude of 1,320 meters at the base and up to 2,000 meters at the top, the slopes of Transalpina offer a varied range of routes and modern cable transport facilities for both beginners and advanced skiers.

The Transalpina area is equipped with five cable cars – two gondolas, two ski lifts and one chair lift. “All are functional, except for the chair lift, where, even these days, we are working on the preparation of the slope. We built a significant number of snow guards (for miles) during the summer. It should be noted that, at the moment, only two slopes are served by artificial snow: Mioarele 1, which measures approximately 2,300 meters long, and Teleschi 1, approximately 800 meters long. For the others, we rely exclusively on natural snow”the cited source also stated.

In a future edition, we will present the full interview given by representatives of the Transalpina Voineasa Ski Area for “The Truth”in which topics such as infrastructure (accommodation, roads, accessibility), challenges encountered, facilities, tourist offer, prices, domestic and international tourism, myths debunked and many other interesting aspects will be addressed.
