Tenerife football club, in the second Spanish league, announce that the player Jesus de Miguel has died, following the serious accident suffered yesterday evening in an extremely hard impact on the field with the goalkeeper Owono, during the match against FC Andorra, according to Marca. The club transmitted the tragic news through its social networks.
The sports club had announced in the early hours of the morning, through a post on social networks, that “the medical condition of Jesús de Miguel has worsened from a neurological point of view”, after the footballer had initially remained under observation at the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital.
The incident took place in extra time against FC Andorra at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium on Monday, when the Tenerife striker collided with the visitors’ goalkeeper, Jesús Owono, in a duel for the ball.
The collision led to the final suspension of the game in the 108th minute, to facilitate the intervention on the field by the medical crews, who gave first aid to the footballer directly on the pitch before transporting him urgently to the hospital by ambulance, but also because the players of the two teams were very affected.
