The game Sepsi – Dinamo (1-1), from the third stage of the Super League, was marked by numerous xenophobic chants by the Bucharest fans towards the Hungarians. Advised by the possible incidents at the match, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban preferred to stay away from the arena in Sfântu Gheorghe.

Orban was expected at the stadium, after already giving the traditional speech at Băile Tuşnad, in front of 7,000 admirers. In past years, the Prime Minister of Hungary did not miss reaching Sepsi’s parties, a group financed by the Hungarian state itself, with 4.2 million euros per season. This is what he did in the matches with Olimpija Ljubljana (July 2022), but also with FCU Craiova (July 2023), during the visits to Romania occasioned by the meetings hosted by the “Tusvanyos” Summer University.
Now, Viktor Orban did not come, although draconian security measures had been taken at the stadium in anticipation of him. The prime minister’s decision was taken considering that Sepsi’s opponent was Dinamo, a team whose supporters always had “matches” with the Hungarians. As in the match against Csikszereda, or as in the December match in Sfântu Gheorghe, the “dogs” fans put on a show and abused xenophobic manifestations, both before and during the game.
“Out, with the Hungarians from the country”, countered by the Hungarian anthem
“Out, out with the Hungarians in the country”, the Dinamo supporters started their recital, at which point the organizers tried to cover the chants by playing the Anthem of the Hungarians of Pretutindeni (“Nelkuled”) loudly on the stadium speakers, a tradition for more than three years at the matches on the field own.
But Dinamo’s gallery did not calm down, and the ultras continued chanting. This time, they shouted “Romania, Romania”, then they cursed the Hungarians, writes gsp.ro. “Hungary sucks our ****”, the “dogs” continued, at which point a conciliatory and common-sense message was made at the amplification station: “Dear fans, please support your favorite team during the match in the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play”was the message of the announcer at Sepsi’s stadium.
Unacceptable chants of Dinamo fans
In vain, Dinamo’s gallery, not very numerous, did not stop and the reprehensible chants continued: “We are Romanians and we will defend our land, nation and history. Ale, ale, ale, ale, let’s fuck you!” and “It’s Romania, it’s our country, and we hate your Hungary.”
On the field, Sepsi opened the scoring in the 29th minute, through Florin Ștefan, while the guests equalized in the second half, through Petru Neagu (74), a player introduced on the field just two minutes earlier.
