After more than 2 years of renovations and consolidation works, Villa Șipot, also known as the “House of the Architects”, part of the Peleș Royal Domain and the place where the Peleș Castle project in Sinaia was born, will officially re-enter the cultural and tourist circuit of Romania, at the end of this year.
Vila Şipot, part of the Peleș Royal Domain, officially re-enters the cultural and touristic circuit
The main attraction of the historical monument is the Galeria Arhitectilor Peleșului, a unique exhibition space dedicated to the architects who built and developed the royal domain.
This is organized by the Association for the Royal Peleș Heritage on the mezzanine level, with direct access from Piațeta Economat, and houses among the exhibits and stained glass windows with four of the important architects who designed Peleș Castle. Among them we note Karel Liman, the Czech architect who was in the service of King Charles I to expand and arrange Peleș in its current form and who used Vila Šipot as a workshop. According to historical documents, King Charles I himself made frequent visits to the architectural office to oversee the design and implementation of his requirements. Liman also designed the Pelișor Castle, as well as other buildings on the Royal Domain, being then involved in the projects of Queen Maria of Bran and Cotroceni.
The stained glass windows represent an element of special architectural value, directly associated with the identity of the Romanian royalty, and their restoration was an extremely important component in the process of consolidating the construction, started at the initiative of the Peleș Royal Heritage Association.
The contribution of the Peleș Royal Heritage Association to the interior design of the Gallery of Peleș Architects amounts to over 250 thousand lei.
In total, the renovation and consolidation works of Villa Şipot are worth over 500 thousand euros, exclusively with funds and logistical support from private sponsors.
As part of the restoration project, the works to consolidate the construction were completed, as well as the works to replace the thermal and electrical sanitary installations, as well as to restore the resistance structures of the space of the Gallery of Peleș Architects.
Following the model of the great historical monuments of the world, Vila Şipot will be able to be used as a tourist attraction, multifunctional space for events, inspirational work space for young architects or with other creative professions, etc.
50 thousand tourists are expected to visit Vila Şipot annually, to which are added the students who come to Peleș through the workshop programs organized by some of the largest universities in the country.
Vila Şipot also offers accommodation for those who want to spend a holiday in the heart of the Royal Peleș Domain.
