Violent fire at a recycling warehouse in Giurgiu. RO-ALERT message due to smoke

A strong fire broke out on Saturday night in the yard of a plastic and polyethylene waste recycling depot in Zorile township, Grădinari commune, Giurgiu county. The fire spread over an area of ​​approximately 5,000 square meters.

Due to the large amount of smoke released, the authorities sent a RO-ALERT message to the residents of Grădinari and Buturugeni. The Environmental Guard was also notified.

Seven fire trucks, two tankers, a truck with a hydroperforation installation, a rescue truck, a robot truck, a SMURD ambulance and a crew of the County Ambulance Service were mobilized to the scene. Crews from ISU Giurgiu and ISU Bucharest-Ilfov, as well as policemen, participate in the intervention.

Firefighters also used a bulldozer to clear access roads to the affected areas.

The intervention is carried out in several sectors, the firefighters also acting to protect the areas near the homes.

The fire has been contained, but operations will continue until the fire is completely extinguished and all risks are eliminated, given the large amount of plastic waste.
