What did the authorities decide about the suspension of classes on the Friday before the elections

The Ministry of Education discussed with the general school inspectors about the preparation of the elections, establishing that on Fridays it is not necessary to suspend classes at the level of educational units where there are polling stations. On Mondays, the schedule can be changed, but only in exceptional situations and with the approval of school inspectorates.

“During the day of 19.11.2024, a video conference was held with the general school inspectors, during which the method of preparing the educational units where voting stations will be organized was discussed, according to what was established in the meeting of the Central Technical Commission for the coordination election organization activities”transmitted, on Wednesday, the Ministry of Education.

During the discussions, recommendations were sent.

Thus, on Fridays there is no need to suspend classes at the level of educational institutions, writes news.ro.

“On Mondays, only in exceptional situations, educational units can approve changes to the program (e.g.: shifting the start time of the program), depending on the specific situation at the level of each school. Any situations of this type will be promptly communicated to the county school inspectorates. On Mondays, it is not recommended to suspend classes except in situations that do not allow the educational process to proceed in safe conditions and with the prior approval of the general school inspector“, the Ministry of Education also transmitted.

Any changes to the program will be communicated to parents and students as soon as possible.

The president of AEP, Toni Greblă, said on Tuesday, about the presidential elections, that 18,968 polling stations were organized at the national level and 950 stations abroad.

Most of the three polling stations in the country are organized in educational institutions.

The first round of the presidential elections takes place on November 24, followed by the second round on December 8.

On December 1st are the parliamentary elections.
