Coach Sergej Jakirovic parted company with Dinamo Zagreb by mutual consent on Thursday, two days after the Croatian side were outclassed by Bayern Munich 9-2 in the first leg of the Champions League football, even if immediately after the match claimed that he would not leave the club.

The Bosnian coach, who previously coached HNK Rijeka, had been named on Dinamo’s bench in February 2023. Dinamo Zagreb occupies the third place in the Croatian first league, with 13 points, after six rounds, ahead of Rijeka and Hajduk Split, both with 14 points, and on Saturday they will play away to Slaven Belupo, the last ranked. Dinamo Zagreb will play their next Champions League match against AS Monaco at home on October 2.
