The Baccalaureate Law rescheduled in the winter and which will extend until the summer was published in the Official Gazette. Practically, from this moment on, we can talk about a first in the Romanian education system, which the parents also “paid for”.
Next year, the first session of the Baccalaureate will take place in two stages: in winter and in summer
“In general, when you come up with changes like this, it’s good to feel the ground a little bit. You do it at a lower level first. To see what works and what doesn’t, what needs to be regulated, implemented, changed, revised, etc. Find out what the hibs are, if any, what works and what doesn’t, what needs to be improved. For example, has anyone thought what will be done by the students of classes IX-XI, who will have to come to school during the winter Baccalaureate exams? Well, during the exam period, no one is allowed to enter the educational units except candidates and teachers. Then, has anyone thought how these kids who take the exam will recover the material during the school year? That he doesn’t give in winter vacation. And it’s not ok!” stated for Adevărul Dan Tita, the president of the Federation of parents in Sector 1 of the Capital.
He also said a pilot program would help. “To have tried this option through a pilot project carried out in several high schools in Bucharest and the country. Then, if everything goes well, to generalize. But the idea, generally speaking, is not good, but very good. We parents have been asking for such a change for a long time. And we think it’s much better that way for two reasons. First of all, children will no longer be so burdened with subjects and exams in the summer. The whole process will be more relaxed, less stressful and tiring. Then we will escape the July heatwave..most of the schools do not have air conditioning and the students and teachers have endured extreme temperatures this year. Last but not least, there are many students who want to enroll in college abroad and cannot because they have not yet taken their Baccalaureate with us”.
Another novelty introduced by the law regulates the manner of submitting appeals. Specifically, starting next year, students will be able to see their work before submitting appeals. “However, we would like the students to have the right to know their two grades received from the two evaluating teachers. So that the entire scoring process is as transparent as possible”.
