Students return to classes on Monday, November 2, after the fall break of the 2026-2027 school year. The next break in the national calendar is scheduled for December, but until then the children will have four consecutive free days, on the occasion of the Saint Andrew and National Day holidays.
The calendar approved by the Ministry of Education and Research establishes both the study periods and the breaks between them, with a single vacation interval whose scheduling is decided at the level of school inspectorates.
When Fall Break 2026 ends
Autumn vacation ends on Sunday, November 1, 2026. Starting on October 24, the break between the first two modules lasts nine calendar days, including the two weekends.
Classes resume on Monday, November 2, with the start of the second module. According to the Order of the Minister of Education and Research no. 3.194/2026, it will end on Tuesday, December 22, the last school day before the winter vacation.
Four-day mini-vacation for students and teachers
Before the winter break, students will have four consecutive days off, between November 28 and December 1 inclusive. In 2026, Saint Andrew is celebrated on Monday, November 30, and Romania’s National Day, Tuesday, December 1. The two public holidays thus extend the weekend at the end of the month.
According to the Labor Code, both dates are non-working days, and the order regarding the structure of the school year provides that no classes are organized on these days. Students will return to school on Wednesday, December 2.
When does winter break start and how long does it last
The last day of classes before the holidays is Tuesday, December 22. Winter break begins on Wednesday, December 23, 2026, and ends on Sunday, January 10, 2027. The break totals 19 calendar days, and back to school is scheduled for Monday, January 11.
How to determine the February 2027 holiday
After business resumes in January, the next outage will last a week. The Ministry of Education and Research announced that it will be planned between February 15 and March 7, 2027, at the decision of the county school inspectorates and the municipality of Bucharest.
The choice is made following consultations with students, parents and teaching staff, carried out at the level of educational units. The exact date must be checked in the detailed structure communicated by each school.
