The most anticipated time of the year for students is approaching: summer vacation. This year, classes will end on June 19 for most children. Those who have important exams will go on vacation earlier. However, they will be able to really enjoy their free days only after they have passed the great emotions of the National Assessment or the Baccalaureate.
When does summer vacation start in 2026
According to the calendar set by the Ministry of Education, the courses of the 2025–2026 school year end – for most students – on Friday, June 19, 2026. The date marks the end of the fifth learning module, which began on April 15.
The first full day of vacation will be Saturday, June 20.
When does the summer vacation start for students taking exams
Final year students finish classes early to have time to prepare before national exams.
- Grade VIII – classes end on June 12, 2026, one week earlier than other students.
- Class 12th day (and 13th evening/reduced frequency) – classes end on June 4, 2026, two weeks early.
There is one more exception to the regular holiday schedule. High school students in the technological stream have classes until June 26, 2026, one week longer than the rest of their peers.
The summer vacation lasts 11 weeks
The 2026 summer vacation is the longest break of the entire school year. It runs for 11 weeks, from Saturday 20 June 2026 to Sunday 6 September 2026.
In this school year, students had four rest periods:
- Fall Break: October 25, 2025 – November 2, 2025
- Winter break: December 20, 2025 – January 7, 2026
- The mobile vacation ( (nicknamed “skiing”): a week established by each county inspectorate, in February
- Easter Vacation: 4–14 April 2026
The 2026-2027 school year will begin on Monday, September 7, 2026, and end on Friday, June 18, 2027, with a total of 36 weeks of classes for most students.
In the public consultation stage, there were proposals regarding the start of classes on September 15, 2026 and the end of the school year on June 15, 2027. The Ministry of Education rejected the option.
