When will the ATI section for newborns at the “Marie Curie” Hospital be ready. Minister Alexandru Rogobete’s announcement

The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, checked the stage of the work on the expansion of the Intensive Care Unit for newborns at the Emergency Clinical Hospital for Children “Marie Curie” and clarified the deadline for completion.

On Friday, February 20, the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, went to the “Marie Curie” Emergency Clinical Hospital for Children, to assess the progress of the expansion works of the Intensive Care Unit for newborns. At the end of his visit, he told journalists that the works are at an advanced stage and that he estimates their completion at the end of May or the beginning of June, within the deadline assumed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).

“Construction progressed at an accelerated pace. We estimate that at the end of May, the beginning of June, the objective will be put into use, falling within the deadline set in the PNRR”, said Alexandru Rogobete.

The expansion of the ATI ward for newborns is considered essential in the context of the increased need for places in neonatal intensive care, especially for complex cases, which require rapid interventions and high-performance equipment.

The project foresees supplementing the capacity of the ATI neonatology department with 20 more beds intended for newborns in critical condition. At the same time, a new operating theater will be set up, designed to support the complex surgical interventions required in serious cases. The investment also includes the development of modern educational spaces, amphitheaters and a simulation training center for medical staff.

This center will allow the training of specialists in conditions close to real situations in medical practice, contributing to the increase in the level of professional training. The project is financed by PNRR.

Alexandru Rogobete emphasized that the investment from “Marie Curie” can be an example of good practice for other hospitals in Romania and highlighted the role of the management of the medical unit in attracting and using the available funds efficiently.

“It is the result of exceptional management and a team that knew how to capitalize on every financing opportunity, so that the investment was completed just two years after signing the contract,” the minister also stated.
