Cristian Diaconescu is running as an independent in the 2024 presidential elections. The former PMP president will launch his candidacy on Monday, October 14, in Iasi.

“I decided to run for the presidency of Romania as an independent. Independent does not mean alone. I am with the Romanians and they are with me and I am with them. We can file a nomination, but we need over 200,000 signatures. There are many obstacles in the way of independent candidates. It’s not easy at all, I’ve already started collecting signatures”the former foreign minister announced in a video, when he announced his candidacy.
The launch event will take place in the Conference Hall of the Grand Hotel Traian, at 18:30, where the candidate will speak about his vision for the future of Romania. He will also be present at the Holy Liturgy, organized starting at 9:30 a.m., in front of the Metropolitan Cathedral in Iasi, reports News.ro.
“This is an essential moment for my independent candidacy, and your presence is particularly important. Only together can we write a new page in the history of this nation,” Cristian Diaconescu transmitted.
The candidate together with the team invites those who will participate in the event to come to the morning religious service, according to a statement.
“Cristian Diaconescu and his team invite citizens to participate in both events, thus marking the beginning of a path dedicated to a united and respected Romania”it is mentioned in the press release.
