The High Court of Cassation and Justice appointed, on Friday, by drawing lots, the seven judges who will be part of the Central Electoral Bureau for the European parliamentary and local elections, which will take place on June 9.

The drawing of lots took place in a public meeting, where judges from the ICCJ, representatives of the parties, as well as the president of the Permanent Electoral Authority, Toni Greblă, participated. Four judges from the civil sections, two from the criminal section and a magistrate from the Litigation Section, according to Agerpres.
Gheorghe Liviu Zidaru and Adina Georgeta Ponea were selected from the First Civil Section. Instead, from the Second Civil Section, Ianina Blandiana Grădinaru and Ruxandra Monica Duţă were extracted.
The two judges from the Criminal Section are Leontina Şerban and Ioana Bogdan, while Vasile Bîcu is a judge at the Administrative and Fiscal Litigation Section.
According to art. 2 paragraph (4) of GEO no. 21/2024, within 24 hours of the election of its president, the Central Electoral Bureau is completed with the president and vice-presidents of the Permanent Electoral Authority and with one representative of each political party and each organization of citizens belonging to national minorities provided for in paragraph (2) lit. c), d) and e), and within 48 hours from the final standing of the candidacies, with one representative of each political party and each organization of citizens belonging to national minorities participating in the elections, other than those provided for in para. (2) lit. c), d) and e), within the limit of the number of members provided for in paragraph. (2).
On March 8, the government adopted an emergency ordinance that provides for merging the European parliamentary elections with the local ones, setting the date of June 9 for both types of elections.
