Who are the parliamentarians who will control the intelligence services. Possible incompatibility in the case of Felix Stroe, former Security informant

On Monday, February 3, the Romanian Parliament chose the new heads of the SRI and SIE control committees. Among the most controversial elections is that of PSD Senator Felix Stroe as vice -president of the SIE Control Commission, given that he was an informant of the Security in communism.

As a result of the vote in the plenary of the Plenum of the Parliament of Romania, the PSD deputy Eugen Bejinariu was elected the head of the SRI control commission, while PNL deputy Alexandru Muraru was voted the head of the SIE control commission.

The following parliamentarians are also included in the SRI control commission: PSD deputy Petru Bogdan Cojocaru, PSD senator Laurenciiu Ţepeluş, gold deputy Fabian Cristian Radu, PNL senator Nicolae Neagu (vice -president), PNL deputy Răzvan Prişcă, Deputy USR Allen Coliban Vasile Nagy and UDMR deputy Csoma Botond.

Apart from President Alexandru Muraru, in the composition of the SIE activity control commission are: PSD Senator Felix Stroe, vice president, PSD deputy Mihai Fifor, secretary, Mircia Chelaru (Senator Aur), Sorin Gheorghe Șipoș (PSD senator), Anamaria Gavrilă (deputy Pot) and Lorand Turos (UDMR senator) – members.

Some of the appointments in the composition of the SIE activity control commission are controversial. The first case is of a convicted parliamentarian.

Former chief of the General Staff of the Romanian Army and the current senator Aur, Mircea Chelaru was sentenced in January 2016 to three years with suspension for corruption, in the file disjointed from the one in which the former Minister of Defense Corneliu Dobriţoiu and ten other generals were charged. The final decision was given by the Bucharest Court of Appeal after, previously, the Bucharest Court had established, in April 2015, a similar conviction.

Another member of the SIE control commission is Felix Stroe, who, according to a document sent by CNSAS at the South-East Info request in 2015, was recruited by security in 1972 for the supervision of colleagues both during the school program and in leisure time. Thus, Felix Stroe was recruited by the Security, had the conspiratorial name “Dan”, but CNSAS considered that the quality of worker or collaborator of the Security cannot be attributed, specifying that there is no signed commitment.

Between 1978 – 1991, Felix Stroe was an active officer within the military, with internships at all the echelons.

PSD senator from December 2020, Felix Stroe was the Minister of Transport during October 2017-January 2018, and between 2000 and 2013 he was a local councilor in Constanța.

According to the most recent declaration of wealth filed in June 2024, Felix Stroe owns, together with several family members, 11 land in Constanța and Buzău, with a total area of ​​over 21 hectares, 1 house in Constanța and 3 houses in Buzău, jewelry. And watches of 18,000 euros, deposits in banks of over 460,000 lei and shares at 4 companies in the amount of over 740,000 lei.

Also, Ana Maria Gavrilă, the president of the party, who supports Călin Georgescu, is a member of the SIE control commission.
