President of the Bihor County Council and one of the most appreciated Romanian politicians, Ilie Bolojan has the best chance of being prime minister in the future Government that will be formed in December 2024.

He accepted the PNL proposal to be prime minister if Nicolae Ciucă wins the presidential elections. At the same time, PSD and USR also expressed their support for Ilie Bolojan as future prime minister.
In August 2024, Elena Lasconi was the first presidential candidate to say that she would like Ilie Bolojan as prime minister if she wins the election.
And Marcel Ciolacu, the PSD candidate in the presidential elections, praised Ilie Bolojan, calling him “a partner I would like as president of Romania”.
It is not the first time that Ilie Bolojan is wanted as prime minister. In September 2021, the leaders of USR PLUS, Dan Barna and Dacian Cioloş, then indicated the president of the Bihor County Council as the agreed option to replace Cîţu as prime minister. But in the end the proposal fell.
Now, Ilie Bolojan has a very high chance of reaching a top position in politics. He opens the PNL Bihor list in the parliamentary elections for the Romanian Senate.
Aged 55, Ilie Bolojan was the mayor of Oradea for 12 years, between 2008 and 2012, attracting numerous projects with non-refundable funds that made the city a highly sought-after tourist destination.
In 2020, he was elected president of the CJ Bihor with 61.5% of the votes, and in June 2024 he was re-elected in the same position with 57% of the votes.
After graduating from the “Emanuil Gojdu” Mathematics-Physics High School in Oradea, Ilie Bolojan studied mechanics (1988-1993) and mathematics (1990-1993) at the University of Timișoara. In 2005 and 2006 he attended specialization courses in public administration in France and at the National Institute of Administration in Bucharest.
Since 1993 he has been a member of the PNL. Between 1996-2004 he was a local councilor of the city of Alesd, and from 2004 a member of the Bihor County Council. Between 2005-2007 he was prefect of Bihor county, and during 2007-2008 he was secretary general of the Government.
What a fortune Ilie Bolojan has
According to the most recent wealth declaration, submitted in June 2024, Ilie Bolojan has two plots of land in Bihor, with a total cumulative area of over 25,000 square meters.
Ilie Bolojan also owns a 100 square meter house in Vadu Crișului commune, as well as a 65 square meter apartment in Oradea.
Since 2017, he has a Mercedes car, and he has more than 190,000 lei in his bank accounts.
As president of the Bihor County Council, he had an income of 177,303 lei in 2023. Also last year, Ilie Bolojan collected 3,120 euros from renting an apartment, also receiving 23,364 lei allowance from the Loans Commission of the Ministry of Finance, according to the wealth declaration.
