The independent candidate for the winter presidential elections, Mircea Geoană, said that if he reaches the second round of the elections, it would be more convenient for him to have the PSD candidate, Marcel Ciolacu, as his rival.

At the same time, a direct confrontation with the USR candidate, Elena Lasconi, would be more “competitive”, Geoană declared on the show “In front of you” on Digi24.
“Obviously, I think there is a real competition between Mrs. Lasconi and Mr. Ciolacu, for the second place. Obviously, for me too, because there are limitations related to the lack of political structure, but I think that what it means to mobilize volunteers and people will take me to the second round. So I see at the moment a competition for the second round in three – between me, the PSD candidate and the USR candidate. The campaign can be changed. It’s just the beginning. Many things can happen“, said Geoana.
Also, Mircea Geoană supports the CP, the difference between second and third place in the polls is around 8 percent. “And here somewhere, there goes a battle that I consider very interesting”added the independent candidate in the race for the Cotroceni Palace.
Asked by journalists with whom he would prefer to reach the second round of the presidential elections, Mircea Geoană stated that he does not prefer anyone in particular, and wants “to mind his own business”.
“It’s a little more comfortable with Mr. Ciolacu – and the polls show it. With Mrs. Lasconi it will be a bit more competitive, but I think there too, if I get into the second round, I think I have the first chance to win the 2024 election“, Geoana also said.
