With the arrival of spring the number of motorcyclists increased on the streets of the cities and the complaints about them were multiplied, sometimes at the wrong hours. Some motorcyclists have tried to explain the reasons for the noises produced by the high speeds.

An online petition recently addressed to the local authorities in Timisoara draws attention to the discomfort caused by the motorcycles.

Nearly 400 people signed the document sent to the town hall, the Timișoara Local Police and the Timiș County Police Inspectorate. The authors of the complaint declare themselves dissatisfied with the high noise level generated by the motorcycles tuned to the maximum.
“The noise produced by the motors modified or driving aggressively affects the quality of life: it disturbs sleep, causes stress and has a negative impact on the physical and mental health of citizens”, is shown in the petition.
The signatories ask the authorities to intensify the road controls, especially after 22:00, the sanction of those who circulate with modified motorcycles or who exceed the legal noise limits, as well as the installation of sound radars in the affected areas.
“Excessive noise is not a moft, it is a real problem, which affects hundreds or thousands of inhabitants of Timisoara. We have the right to rest and a quiet environment. These terrorists must be stopped,” the authors of the petition conclude.
Some inhabitants of the city claim that they frequently face such problems. One of them advertises, in a Reddit post, that he can no longer sleep at night with open windows.
“It seems like a war, between 9 in the evening and 2 at night, from how many engines I pass. I have nothing against the cars or motorcycles that run even at night, as long as they are not tuned so that they make the most horrible noise. Unfortunately, in this area they are continuously donut, drifts, racing with cars,“He writes.
Residents of large cities, most affected by the noise of the engines
For Romania, Timișoara is a big city, but compared to other European capitals, it seems small and even quiet, a young man contradicts him, adding that the joke produced by motorcyclists is a consequence of the development of the city.
“And what should the police do? To send people home if they catch the streets at night? The motorcycles are legal, approved. In Ceausescu’s time, if you were caught by the militia (as the police were called) on the street at late hours, you take questions immediately.”he claims.
In Cluj Napoca, Iași and Bucharest, some locals complained about similar situations, regarding the noises made by the motorcycles.
“I do not understand the fascination of some with the motorcycles to do so much. You cannot go for a quiet walk, that one appears, touring the engine at a level of unbearable decibels. He awakens the children, scares the animals, disturbs everyone, and he is in ecstasy. Help me understand, please,” please, “ a Cluj complains on the social network.
A resident of Iași expressed, in turn, the frustration towards the motorcyclists in his city who produce excessive noise.
“The heat came and revived the Moto community. At the weekend I also walked with my family, from below to CCS to the Rond of Agronomy and Back. I ask you out of curiosity: what is the reason why many motorcyclists are so driving? What is the explanation behind this behavior? ”, he asks.

How do motorcyclists explain disturbing noises
A motorcyclist says that the engine speed is a bad habit, but very satisfying for the leader.
“The vibration of the engine under you gives you a feeling of power that you have no way to understand if you live. He also says that old motorcycles should be turned from time to time for technical reasons: some have poorly adjusted relay and can stop if they are not turned a little.

Another motorcyclist states that he does not intend the engine intentionally, but his motorcycle drums, although they are standard, are quite loud, because this is the factory motorcycle.
“I try to go as quietly as possible in the hours of peace and in the morning, when I go to work. If I scream the engine, I do it only when there is a child next to me and asks me. To see their faces as I smile when I let them press for five seconds.” add it.
Another Romanian, who drives a sports motorcycle that could be very loud, says that in general the justification of motorcyclists is that they throw the engines for visibility and safety, so to make their presence in traffic.
