Women in Romania earn better than men. Who says that

The Minister of Labour, Simona Bucura-Oprescu, said on Thursday that, according to the data of the Labor Inspection, in Romania the average gross salary of women is higher than the average gross salary of men, more precisely, men earn 6,261 lei, and women 6,762 lei.

“Making an average of all the men’s incomes and all the women’s incomes and making an average of them and then comparing the average results that our colleagues from the Labor Inspection give us, I say that the average gross salary calculated only for the individual employment contracts of the gentlemen is 6,261 lei, and the average gross salary calculated for women’s individual employment contracts is 6,762 lei. In other words, we observe an important change, namely the fact that the average gross salary of women is higher than the average gross salary of men, according to of the Labor Inspectorate. (…) We do not have a public indicator that the National Institute of Statistics can use later. The calculation is made using elementary arithmetic and using only the data from the individual labor contracts all types of income from the economy because we also have a service report, we also have management contracts, and so on”, said the Minister of Labor at the debate “Resilience in Action: Women’s Leadership in Democratic Communities”. writes Agerpres.

She mentioned that it is important to know that in our country there is a balance between the number of women’s and men’s employment contracts.

“It is important to know that today, in Romania, out of a total number of approximately 6,700,000 employment contracts registered by the Labor Inspection in REVISAL, we have a relatively balanced number of employment contracts that ladies and gentlemen have, i.e. somewhere around 3,300,000 female employees and 3,350,000 male employees. This may be an important signal, but I would not rush to judge by it, because there are sectors where the presence of women is still fragile and at the beginning and very often relevant in our analysis can be even the defense sector, public order and national defense. There are sectors such as education, health and social assistance where the presence of women is significant“, said Simona Bucura-Oprescu.

Regarding politics, the Minister of Labor said that in the elected positions, whether we are talking about the local administration or whether we are talking about the Parliament, “the presence of women is much less than the presence of men”.
