The Palace Hall became, for one evening, a temple of music, emotion and artistic greatness. On November 1, over 4,000 top guests from culture, business and media, Romanian and international, gathered at the gala premiere of the film Yellow tie — a production that restores, through cinema, Romania’s connection with one of its most powerful figures: Sergiu Celibidache.
Conductor, philosopher, free spirit and absolute perfectionist, Celibidache was one of the few artists in the world for whom music was not just sound, but a form of consciousness. Yellow tie follows this extraordinary journey – of the Romanian child who left a provincial village, of the young man who faces war and exile, of the master who conquered the great stages of the world and remained, deep in his soul, connected to Romania.
The screening was a true cultural celebration. The audience experienced the intense emotion of the film in the presence of world-renowned guests – John Malkovich, Sean Bean, Olivia Popica -, alongside numerous Romanian personalities from culture, media and business: Andreea Esca, Amalia Enache, Irina Margareta Nistor, Oana Gheorghiu, Ana Ularu, Victor Rebengiuc, Irina Rimes, Mugur Isărescu, Sebastian Burduja, Emil Constantinescu, Theodor Stolojan, Raluca Turcan and His Highness, Princess Sofia. And the surprise of the evening was the unexpected appearance of director Tim Burton, who came to greet the story of a film that, as he said, “speaks of the essence of art – the truth lived to the end.”

Beyond the artistic dimension, Yellow tie it was also a demonstration of technical excellence. The Palace Hall has been completely transformed to reproduce the visual and aural grandeur of the film. The Big Events team coordinated the entire technical production – from the cinema-standard DCP projection, made with a state-of-the-art professional projector, to the huge screen specially brought from Germany, the light and sound system, and the architectural lighting that transformed the space into a total experience.
“For me and the Big Events team, this evening was a form of gratitude towards Romanian excellence. Sergiu Celibidache is a universal symbol, but his roots are here. And the fact that Adela Vrînceanu Celebidachi gave us the confidence to conduct, from a technical and experimental point of view, this unique moment is a huge honor. We wanted everything to be flawless – an experience that would honor the legacy of a genius and it shows that Romania can produce events at the level of the world’s biggest stages”, said George Carabelea, founder of Big Events.
When the lights went down and the first chords filled the room, there was that rare silence that is only born when art, technology and emotion align perfectly. Yellow tie it was not just a projection – it was a statement about Romania that inspires, creates and claims its place in the great stories of the world.
