The high school admission brochure for the 2024-2025 school year in Bucharest has been published on the website of the School Inspectorate. The document contains information on the number of places, specializations, codes and averages of the last admitted students from the previous year at each individual high school. The brochure is very important for parents and students in viewing options for admission to high school education.

How to calculate the average

Registration for high school admission in 2024 begins on July 11, and the distribution of candidates takes place on July 24. In case of equal averages, the tie is based on the general average of grades V-VIII, the grades from the national assessment in Romanian Language, Mathematics and, if applicable, Mother Tongue. The admission average is the arithmetic average of the grades from the National Assessment.

It's good to be that way. It had been noticed that the averages from the National Assessment exam are two to three points lower than the averages from the gymnasium course. Because in the gymnasium to give grades for beautiful eyes. The teachers would purposely give them higher grades: “Let him go and take a seat.” Some may have deserved them, but anyway, the fact that they were two or three points higher than the averages from the National Assessment said a lot”explained Mathematics teacher Ștefan Vlaston for “Adevărul”.

The ranking of high schools in the Capital

Based on data from the brochure “truth” compiled the list of the best high schools in the Capital, according to the last average with which he entered. The Capital is entered with the highest averages. The reason? “Because in Bucharest they are statistically many more children so they have a place to choose the very good ones. In these county seat cities, there are fewer children and therefore fewer very good ones, that's the statistics. But they are the same top high schools, where there are very good teachers”education expert Ștefan Vlaston explains.

The “Saint Sava” National College is also on the first position, where, last year, in the Mathematics-Informatics profile, bilingual English specialization, the entrance average was the highest, 9.95. At the same college, in second place in terms of admission average is the Natural Sciences profile, where he entered with an average of 9.85, while in Mathematics-Informatics, the last average was 9.75. In the Philology profile, the last average was 9.67. For this college, 260 places will be available for summer admission.

Maybe the subjects should be a bit harder, i.e. 9.90 is hard to get, very hard. Not all the breath, all those who gave to Sava, 100 or so children, or 200, should take 9.90. I would make the subjects harder, in the sense that only 2, 3, 4 subs are hard and very hard, so that maximum averages take less kids, not all of them. Especially for these children I would do harder subjects. And you also mobilize the good ones very goodadds the Mathematics teacher.

The ranking of the high schools in the Capital has not changed much compared to last year, but the averages have increased. If a student wants to enter one of the ten best high schools in Bucharest, he should have an average of at least 9.5 in the National Assessment.

The second place, according to the admission average for the Mathematics-Informatics profile, is occupied by “Gheorghe Lazăr” College, where it entered with 9.90 last year. The “Spiru Haret” College is also in third place this year – 9.85, and the “Tudor Vianu” National College is in the fourth place, with an admission average of 9.72, for the bilingual German and 9 .70 in mathematics and computer science.

“George Coșbuc” National College, “Grigore Mosil” National College and “IlCaragiale” National College share the fifth place this year with the average of the last admitted student of 9.67, in the Mathematics-Informatics profile.

He entered the “Mihai Viteazul” National College with a final average of 9.60 in the Natural Sciences profile and 9.50 in Mathematics-Informatics, occupying 6th place.

This year, the “Ion Creangă” National College is on the 7th place, where he entered with an average of 9.55 in Mathematics and Computer Science. As well as the “Iulia Hașdeu” National College, where he entered with 9.55 in the English bilingual mate-info profile. The “Gheorghe Şincai” National Colleges follow, with the last average of 9.52, and “Matei Basarab”, with the last average of 9.50 at mate-info, in the eighth and ninth places. At the “Cantemir Vodă” College, the last entrance average for English bilingual Mathematics-Informatics was 9.47.

While some high schools are entered with an average of almost 10, others are also entered with an average of less than 2. This discrepancy should be analyzed, emphasizes Ștefan Vlaston. “There should be a high school admission average of at least 5, as Cîmpeanu had left. This provision was removed with an average of 5, because children reach the National Assessment with 2, 3, 4 and after that they face insurmountable difficulties in high school, integrals, derivatives of quantum physics, they don't become smarter overnight, at high school. And then, they have to pass from class to class with beautiful eyes, because the teachers have an interest in the students passing, the school receives funds in proportion to the number of students it has. And then, they don't let them repeat because it decreases the funding per capita. And we wake up directly with them at the Baccalaureate that I don't know anything. The percentage of those who fail the Baccalaureate is very high precisely because they were not selected from the beginning and because this financing option principle works. We harm the child, we keep him in high school for four years, he learns nothing and after four years he still goes to work, but without much benefit. Because this idea with compulsory high school education is stupid“, adds the expert.
