Gabriela Firea reported that when she arrived at the Capital City Hall, the first thing she was told was that “we have no chance to get European funds“, explaining that he emphasized at that time the fact that local and government funds are not enough, the problems faced by the mayor's office being complex.
“The first visits were to Brussels and what seemed like it wouldn't happen happened. In two years, over a billion non-reimbursable European funds for what all citizens saw. New public transport: 400 environmentally friendly buses, Euro 6, 130 hybrid buses, electric buses, trams, trolleybuses”, the former mayor also reported.
“The much-discussed sums for heating networks. Yes, 300 million euros obtained by the social-democratic team at the mayor's office. The astronomical observatory, but I would also add here what we achieved, as a social democratic team, the fact that doctors and nurses from Bucharest, from the hospitals under the Capital, trained with European funds in hospitals in Europe and came home well prepared, precisely to heal the Romanians, the people of BucharestGabriela Firea added.
Firea also explained that an objective of his team is to obtain more funds for the expansion of the subway network in Bucharest, pointing out that “this would really be the chance to streamline traffic in the Capital”a real project.
“We can do this with European funds, with national funds, with the support of the Prime Minister, our MEPs, the support of the Ministry of Transport“, explained Gabriela Firea.
The PSD candidate for the Capital City Hall specified, in a message on Facebook, that “the social democratic team brought 1 billion euros of non-reimbursable European funds to Bucharest”.
“As a team, together with our colleagues from the European Parliament, we can bring even more! This money is a chance to make communities, all over Romania, more friendly to people. I will campaign for the attraction of non-reimbursable funds after the June 9 elections, as I did in the previous mandate when the first visits were to Brussels, to the European Parliament. The relationship between Bucharest, Romania and the European Union is essential and we have a huge profit so far, over 1 billion euros in the Capital and almost 70 billion euros nationally”, said the former mayor of the Capital, who is running for a new mandate.
