The American rapper Nicki Minaj said that she was detained on Saturday at Schiphol airport in Amsterdam on the charge of possession of soft drugs, reports Reuters.

UPDATE Trinidad-born American rapper Nicki Minaj has left the Netherlands after being briefly detained at Amsterdam airport for trying to smuggle a small amount of soft drugs through customs, news portal no reported. n.l.

According to the online publication, following consultations between the police and the prosecutor's office, the singer was fined 350 euros.

As noted by the prosecutor's office, Minaj's case is closed. The representatives of the department added that it is less than 100 grams of marijuana.

In the Netherlands, the sale of recreational drugs is legal.

INITIAL NEWS Minaj, 41 years old, was detained a few hours before she was to perform a concert in Manchester, England. The singer posted a video on the X social media platform in which she appears to be told by an employee at Schiphol that the police want to search all her luggage.

Dutch military police confirmed on Saturday that a 41-year-old American woman was detained for possession of soft drugs, adding that it is forbidden to take such substances out of the Netherlands.

The police did not confirm the name of the suspect, but stated that she is still in custody pending an investigation.

The former “American Idol” judge performed on Thursday in the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam and is due to return there for another show on June 2.
