The Balloon Festival is held for three days, from Friday to Sunday (May 24-26), at Staro Jezero- Iazul Vechi, a place full of greenery a few hundred meters from the center of Kikinda, in the Serbian Banat.

At this festival, this year, teams from four countries will be present: Romania, Serbia, Hungary and Slovenia.

Nine balloons will each make two flights a day. The balloon flights will take place in the early hours of the morning, around 5:00-6:30, and in the evening, starting at 7:00 p.m.

Kikinda is already a Family Trip destination for the people of Banat and Arad. We invite them this weekend to our welcoming city, at Staro Jezero – Iazul Vechi, to admire the show of hot air balloons. Entry is free and flights are provided free of charge. We expect to have favorable flying conditions, especially on Saturday. We keep an eye on the weather sites every five minutes. Happy to have guests from Banat and be good hosts to them”, said Jasmina Milankov, director of the Kikinda Tourist Office.

For children between the ages of 5 and 14, the balloons will rise a few meters from the ground (lifting) between 19:00 and 20:00 to enjoy this experience as well.

The highlight will be “Night Glow”, premiering at Kikinda. After dusk, and on Friday and Saturday, after 20:00, the hot air balloons will rise into the air, offering a unique light show.

The organizers would like to note that all balloon flights (which are free) and all activities will depend on favorable weather conditions.

Kikinda is a weekend destination for Romanians and has many tourist attractions for families, from walking on the greenest street in Serbia where you can take Instagrammable pictures, to the National Museum in the center where the skeleton of the mammoth Kika is located, to the terraces and restaurants with specifically Banatian and Serbian. You can also visit the Museum of terracotta sculptures – Terra and the Suvaca Mill, the only horse-powered mill in the historical Banat preserved to this day, on the site where it was built in 1899. The Town Hall building, from the time of the Empire, is perhaps the most beautiful building in the city, close to it, you can visit the two churches: Orthodox and Romanian-Catholic. A place I recommend is the local souvenir shop, also in the center, under the administration of the City Hall and the Tourist Office, in my opinion the most beautiful souvenir shop with local brands in this part of Banat and Voivodeship” said Romana Rista, culinary diplomat and promoter of Serbian culture.
