Procter & Gamble and Act for Tomorrow launched the seventh edition of the campaign A Clean Romania Starts at Home. The action of collecting natural waste was carried out in 6 cities in Romania between April and June, to encourage an active involvement of the community in protecting the environment.
During the action, over 400 volunteers from Bucharest/Ilfov, Pitesti, Iași, Ploiești, Făgăraș, and Craiova, collected over 22 tons of waste. With the support of the competent organizations, some of them will be recycled. Also, over 100 volunteers participated in a sapling planting action in Urlati, Prahova, in the spring of this year.
Andrei Coșuleanu, President of Act for Tomorrow, said: “Seven years ago, together with P&G Romania, we started a new journey, through which we set out to contribute to the protection of nature. This journey continues, and this year we were joined by new volunteers and partners from the communities local, who supported us to clean up the waste irresponsibly thrown into nature. <> is more than a project, it is a movement, a collective effort and a community mobilization exercise, in which the hundreds of volunteers who join us year after year have a common mission: to get involved to help make the world a greener and cleaner place for us and future generations.”
campaign A Clean Romania Starts at Home was launched in 2018 and gradually grew into an action that brought together P&G volunteers, NGOs and local communities in an effort to clean up waste in areas across the country. So far, more than 3,500 volunteers have been involved, from 24 cities in Romania, and more than 44 tons of waste have been collected. At the same time, thanks to the efforts of volunteers and partner NGOs, more than 12,500 saplings were planted.
