The United Right Alliance, criticized from within

USR deputy from Neamţ, Iulian Bulai, said on Monday that the United Right Alliance was a wrong decision for several reasons, stating that he is glad that Elena Lasconi, candidate for the party leadership, said that she will propose the termination of the alliance.

ADU was the wrong decision for many reasons. We analyze the local elections. First of all because, from the point of view of the electoral threshold, the threshold was raised from 5% to 8%. In 2020, in Neamț we lost positions of local councilors because everywhere we had a threshold of 7%, not 5%”, wrote Iulian Bulai in a post on his Facebook page.

The USR deputy claims that he proposed to the USR leadership not to create electoral alliances except for the presidency of the county councils and the mayor's offices of the municipality of residence.

“This spring, I proposed to my colleagues from the USR that we no longer go with alliances anywhere, except where this could not be negotiated: CJ and the county seat municipalities, plus a few UATs. Not many”, stated Iulian Bulai.

The USR deputy claims that he was right and that missing the ADU at CJ Neamț is “a big loss”.

I was right. ADU narrowly missed entering CJ Neamț: a big loss. On the other hand, at the county, because a large team did qualitative expansion, we brought out a very large number of councilors: 63 USR local councillors. In the context in which Neamț county is a small, depopulated, rural county, without university centers and without a business environment to explode. In Neamț we applied a very good tactic, despite a national strategy that did not work. I thank my colleagues who listened to me“, said Bulai.

The deputy mentioned that he is glad that Elena Lasconi, the candidate for the head of the party, said in his turn that he proposes breaking the alliance.

“I am also glad that Elena Lasconi, the future president of USR, proposes to end the alliance with FD and PMP”, concluded Bulai.

Re-elected mayor of Câmpulung with a crushing percentage of over 69%, Elena Lasconi (USR) harshly criticized the poor results of the United Right Alliance in the European parliamentary elections on June 9, stating in an interview for “Adevărul” that: “A percentage of 20% was a reasonable one. USR was supposed to be stronger after 2019 when it had a very good score in the alliance with PLUS. And a USR that makes 11% with Forța Dreptei and PMP, from my point of view is disastrous”. And, on Sunday, when he announced that he would run for the head of USR, Lasconi stated that “It's RECONSTRUCTION time!”.

At the same time asked, on Sunday evening, in an intervention on Digi24 if she will win the headship of the USR, she will still remain in the alliance with the PMP and Forța Dreptei Elena Lasconi stated; “I don't think it's a solution at this point.” “It's not ok to make alliances on your knees and then expect extraordinary results”, Lasconi also said, stating that a decision will be made after discussions with the members of the national office and with the branches throughout the country.

According to the partial results announced, Sunday evening, by the Central Electoral Bureau, for the election of county councils, following the centralization, at the national level, of 35 of the 41 electoral constituencies, the United Right Alliance obtained 7.78% of the political vote, being on fourth place after PSD, PNL and AUR.
