Romanians are increasingly interested in the islands in Europe, but also in the Indian Ocean, America, Asia, Africa or the Caribbean for this year's summer season.

Romanians' appetite for traveling abroad is on an upward trend, compared to the same period last year, according to tour operators. “Tracking bookings, both through online platforms and traditional channels up to this point, we have seen a 15% increase in requests, and the choices are among the most diverse… Thus, at the end of this holiday season, we expect an increase in sales by 20% compared to 2023”, explained the sales manager of a travel agency.
And because most of the requests for a summer holiday 2024 come from families with children, it is good to remember that in Europe the little ones benefit from free of charge, if they are up to 12 years old and stay in the same room as their parents. However, there are also requests for “holiday for two”.
Romanians are not only looking for exotic destinations, but also areas where they can escape from the extreme heat wave, such as those from northern Europe to Alaska.
What is your summer vacation budget?
The average budget invested by Romanian tourists for the summer vacation is 800 euros/person, the tour operators also say, also recalling that there were many departures during this period to Paris, Barcelona, Sicily, Sardinia, Nice, Lisbon at rates under 700 euros.
There are also holiday destinations in Europe, such as Madeira, where, for a 7-night stay, prices start from 890 euros at some travel agencies.
On the other hand, a ten-day stay on the exotic beaches of the Seychelles, in August 2024, can be purchased from 1890 euros/person.
Top destinations in Europe, Asia or Africa
The top European destinations are led, for the summer of 2024, by Madeira, closely followed by Tenerife, Palma de Mallorca, Nice and Sicily. In terms of a top exotic destinations further afield here there is a mix of Asia and Africa: Seychelles, Tanzania, Malaysia, Kenya and Indonesia.
Romanian tourists were also open to exploring areas such as: Portugal, Italy (Ischia, Capri and Naples) or France where, in addition to Paris, they are looking for packages to discover the metropolis, combined with the Loire Valley or Mont Saint Michel: “Some also stop at Disneyland, especially since it's a hugely popular attraction for families”.
Strictly related to Paris, we must however draw attention to the increase in all prices, including tourist attractions, due to the Olympic Games that Paris is hosting this summer (July 26 – August 11, 2024).
Northern Europe, up to Alaska, among the seasonal novelties
And Scotland is among the favorites for summer 2024, as is Iceland, “with a friendlier climate and spectacular scenery.”
There are tour operators who also boast of the growing number of tourists opting for cruises to Iceland, Greenland, the Norwegian fjords, even Alaska, among the seasonal novelties.
