After being removed from the USR list from the European Parliament because she voted in the referendum for the traditional family, Elena Lasconi now has a different point of view.

The mayor of Câmpulung Muscel and candidate for the headship of the USR claimed that he would no longer vote “Yes” in a referendum on this topic and says that there is room for everyone in the USR. “I really think about myself that I’m deadheaded. In USR there is room for everyone. For both Christians and atheists, for those who are LGBTQ or non-LGBTQ, for both gays and straights”Lasconi said.
Asked by the reporter if she would participate with a positive vote or call a referendum for the family, Laconi said: “I don’t think so… Actually, no. Definitely not. Because I told you: everyone is free to live their life the way they want. And it’s not the politician’s job or USR’s job to get into people’s lives,” the mayor’s office also mentioned, according to digi24.ro.
Elena Lasconi became the center of a huge scandal in November 2023 after she revealed that she voted “YES” in the referendum for the traditional family in 2018. “I am Christian, I am Orthodox and I believe that the family consists of a woman and a man “said Lasconi on Prima TV.
Later, USR president Cătălin Drula announced that he had a discussion with Elena Lasconi and asked her to withdraw from the campaign for the European Parliament, after the scandal caused by her statements regarding the vote in the family referendum.
The harshest reaction, however, came from his daughter, who, in a post on Instagram, through tears, declared herself “in shock and absolutely disgusted”, stating: “This cruel discrimination does not take place in my family and for this reason I no longer support my mother from this moment on.”
