The reaction of a PSD senator after Ciolacu kissed Sosoacă. Calling extremist leaders to consultations: “natural”

PSD Senator Daniel Zamfir responded to liberals’ criticism regarding the invitation of George Simion and Diana Sosoacă to the Government consultations, on the date of the presidential elections, stating that it was “a natural one”. The social democrat said regarding Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu’s gesture of kissing Diana Sosoacă on the cheeks that it was a courtesy and that “it should not be interpreted as a friendly gesture or to legitimize it”.

I don’t like Soșoacă in any way, I don’t like Simion either. Their legitimization was not done by Mr. Ciolacu, by inviting them to the Government, but it was done by the people, the parties led by them were legitimized by voting. Sosoacă and Simion represent part of the Romanian citizens, who trust them. The role of these meetings and the fact that they were invited to (Victoria Palace no) is because they represent political parties legitimized by the people, whether we like them or not. That in the next parliamentary elections they will get a lower or higher score, they will enter or not (in Parliament no), that’s what the people decide. But today, when we speak, these parties are legitimized by the people, they are in the Romanian Parliament, as such, their invitation was a natural one”, said PSD senator Daniel Zamfir, to RFI, when asked if the presence of George Simion and Diana Șoșoăcă at the consultations with Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu at the Victoria Palace regarding the date of the presidential elections does not legitimize the two extremist leaders.

The PSD senator said regarding Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu’s gesture of kissing Diana Soșoacă on the cheeks that “it should not be interpreted as a friendly one or to legitimize it”.

I don’t know how friendly or unfriendly it was. It was a gesture of courtesy. Mr. Ciolacu makes similar gestures when he greets women, so it does not seem to me, this gesture should not be interpreted as a friendly one or to legitimize it or to legitimize the actions of Mrs. Sosoacă in relation to the Russian Embassy”, said the senator when asked what people should understand when they see that Marcel Ciolacu kisses Diana Șoșoacă on the cheek in a friendly way, a politician who never misses a dinner organized by the Russian embassy in Bucharest.

Daniel Zamfir stated that he does not like the leader of SOS Romania, giving assurances that PSD will not make alliances with this formation.

Mrs. Soșoacă is a person I don’t like, she is a person with whom I assure you PSD will not make alliances. The fact that it was a greeting does not mean that there is in any way a political connection between the PSD and Ms. Sosoacă’s party”, the social-democratic senator also said, as a result of the filmmaker’s remark that Diana Şoșoacă is avoided even by the extremists in the European Parliament.

Liberal Alexandru Muraru, a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Romanian Parliament, criticized the sending of invitations to participate in the consultations regarding the date of the presidential elections to the president of the extremist party AUR, George Simion, and to the leader of the extremist party SOS, Diana Șoșoacă, saying that it is dangerous and “legitimizes extremism in Romania”.

On Monday, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu kissed Diana Șosoacă on the cheeks when welcoming the SOS delegation, at the Victoria Palace, saying “colleague” and shaking hands with the leader of the formation.
