The road that crosses the Olt Valley is closed to road traffic during the day starting from Monday, July 8, 2024. Deforestation in order to build the Pitesti-Sibiu highway has begun.

The section of DN 7 that crosses the Olt Valley is one of the busiest, which is why, after the transmission of the decision to close traffic during the day, from July 8 to August 9, 2024, complaints also appeared. The communication was made “shortly”, the transporters accuse, while the tourism operators also draw attention to the fact that they will suffer losses, as it is a peak period for the hospitality industry.

Despite the complaints, the Minister of Transport, Sorin Grindeanu, announced that he is not backing down. Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu “sweetened” things on Monday, July 8, 2024, declaring that he will analyze together with the Minister of Transport the possibility of certain works being done during the night.

It is certain that the deforestation has begun, today the national road company is publishing the first images of the sectors on which the machines are working.

The National Road Infrastructure Administration Company SA transmitted, on Friday, July 5, 2024, what are the bypass routes of Văia Oltului (DN7) during the deforestation of the slope located in the protection zone of DN 7, on the sector between km 242+600 and km 250+000.

In two time slots – 7.30 – 8.00 and 16.30 – 17.00 – the executor of the works will temporarily lift the traffic closure measure, allowing residents to cross the restricted road sector.

The passage of motor vehicles will be carried out under the supervision of the constructor, so as to eliminate the risk of any event that could endanger the integrity of traffic participants or the personnel involved in carrying out the works.

During the period of the establishment of the traffic closure on the road sector mentioned above, the movement of vehicles with the priority traffic regime specified in art. 32 paragraph 2 letter will be allowed. a) and b) of GEO 195/2002, as well as special vehicles for transporting patients. The passage of motor vehicles will be carried out under the supervision of the constructor, so as to eliminate the risk of any event that could endanger the integrity of road users or the personnel involved in carrying out the works”. it is also stated in the CNAIR press release.

The diversion of traffic on detour routes led to the lifting of various restrictions on other roads. The access of motor vehicles with the maximum authorized mass of up to 30 t will be allowed on DN 10, Buzău – Brașov, and measures will also be taken so that no other traffic restrictions are imposed on the recommended and proposed variants throughout this period, which could affect the flow and safety of traffic, and where they exist, they should be lifted as soon as possible (as is the case with the traffic restriction established for the rehabilitation of the bridge located on DN1 km 194+400 in the area of ​​Vlădeni, where traffic is carried out with traffic lights and with traffic pilots on a single lane in both directions).
