Mihai Tudose, social democrat, responds to liberal Siegfried Mureșan, who criticized the portfolio of European commissioner obtained by Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, calling him “empty of content” and with “zero concrete skills“. Mihai Tudose reminded the liberals that instead of celebrating Romania’s success, they seem upset that it is not their personal success.

Envy? Ignorance? Or the rage of impotence…. Romania has obtained the most important position within the European Commission, a position of executive vice president that manages 235 billion euros and has in its portfolio important fields on the European level and of great impact for Romania!!! Who is “angry”? Liberal “Brother” Sigfried Mureșan who tries to ridicule this success of Romania…, wrote Mihai Tudose on Facebook.

The PSD MEP also listed the reasons why Siegfied Mureșan criticized the portfolio of European commissioner obtained by Romania.

Because it is not “theirs, the liberals'”… Because it is his success Marcel Ciolacu… Because it is a success of the PSD … Because, as usual, they are part of the problem and not the solution! Because they, the “liberals”, didn’t get the position of commissioner for which they aimed for the EU enlargement portfolio… a portfolio that has nothing to do with Romania at all….”, said Mihai Tudose.

Tudose conveyed to the Liberals that they could “let them also enjoy, as Romanians, Romania’s success”.

They too could be proud that a Romanian is executive vice-president of the European Commission. They could be normal… They could… but it doesn’t work out for them!! Malice? Envy? Or just the rage of impotence? And this time they prove how comfortable they are in the embarrassing area!!! Congratulations Marcel Ciolacu for the negotiations! Good luck Roxana Mânzatu! Good luck Romania“, continued the PSD MEP.

Criticism brought by Siegfried Muresan

PNL MEP Siegfried Mureșan harshly criticized the European portfolio obtained by Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, describing it as “devoid of substance” and “without concrete skills“. Mureșan emphasized that, although Marcel Ciolacu had promised to obtain an important economic portfolio, Romania received a role with an impressive name, but without essential economic attributions.

The portfolio obtained by Prime Minister Ciolacu is empty of content, has zero concrete competences and is the opposite of what he promised to achieve. At the beginning of the summer, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said that Romania has a real chance to obtain the portfolio of European Commissioner for Economy – currently held by the former Prime Minister of Italy, Paolo Gentiloni – and has publicly assumed the objective of obtaining that post“, said Siegfried Mureşan.

He stressed that the current portfolio will not influence key areas such as the economy, cohesion and investment, but focuses on social issues.

As such, the EU will not leave the wolf to watch over the sheep when it comes to the commissariat for the Economy, with responsibilities for fiscal discipline“, said the liberal.

Mureșan concluded that this result is more of a failure than a victory, considering that Romania needed a commissioner with real impact in the areas that matter most.

Therefore, the portfolio obtained by Marcel Ciolacu is not a victory, but a failure. Romania did not need a commissioner with an honorary position, but a commissioner who can influence decisions on the areas that matter the most for Romania“, emphasized Siegfried Mureşan.

Who is Roxana Mînzatu, who will hold the position of EC vice-president

Romania obtained, for the first time, a position of vice-president of the European Commission, a position that will be occupied by Roxana Mînzatu. The announcement was made on Tuesday by Ursula von der Leyen, and Mînzatu will manage the portfolio “Skills and Education, Jobs and social rights, demography“. This portfolio is one of the most important, having responsibility for a significant part of the EU budget, including funds such as the European Social Fund Plus and Erasmus+.
