Defense ministers from the B9 group meet in Bucharest. Regional security and the strengthening of NATO, on the agenda

Defense ministers from the countries participating in the “Bucharest 9” (B9) Initiative are meeting on Wednesday, September 18, in Bucharest. The meeting starts at 10:00 a.m., in the “Human Rights” room at the Palace of the Parliament in Bucharest.

The Romanian Ministry of Defense announced that the agenda of the meeting aims at “the regional security situation, in the context of the Russian Federation’s war of aggression against Ukraine, the implications of this conflict on Euro-Atlantic security, NATO and EU support for the Black Sea region, as well as measures to strengthen NATO’s deterrence and defense posture on the Eastern flank , in order to prepare the next meeting of defense ministers in an allied format”.

At the end of the meeting, the defense ministers from Romania and Poland will make statements.

Launched at the initiative of Romania and Poland, B9 offers a platform for deepening the dialogue and cooperation between the participating allies.

The nine countries included in this dialogue are Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia.
