Romania fulfilled the objective assumed at the start of the competition, the first 12 national teams, the qualification in the main group stage. However, Florentin Pera’s national team could get more if they beat Poland.

A win over Poland would have equated to a top 8 national ranking. Even a 7th place, depending on the results game in the other group.

“I believe that the national team of Romania has surpassed itself at this European Championship. We had very good group games, we had a great win against Sweden. Unfortunately, in the two games against Hungary and Poland, we were not at the same level.
I had 20 good minutes with Hungary, today 30 minutes were ok. I couldn’t keep up after that. We looked for solutions, we really wanted to win for all the supporters who supported us. Maybe we deserved to end with a win, for everything we did at the Euros.
We left with very little chance, we achieved our goal, but you always want more. We wanted to end with a victory. Today, Poland were physically superior to us in the second half. We were unable to return the result.
I think that the national team fought, had attitude in many moments. He outdid himself, but today we are disappointed. I think I had some good situations today, I missed two shots from 7 meters.
In defense we weren’t grouped enough anymore, we didn’t have the same aggressiveness. I left too many spaces. In the second half I also took a risk. Maybe, in the end, if we were two goals down, we could get something!“, Pera said.
