“Mufasa: The Lion King” arrives in Romania. Who voices the characters in the dubbed version

On December 18, 2024, the public in Romania will be able to watch the new movie of the Walt Disney Pictures studios at the cinema, “Mufasa: The Lion King”a production that presents (serves as a prequel) the events that precede the story of the well-known film “The Lion King”.

The film explores Mufasa’s life story as told through the memories of Rafiki, Timon and Pumbaa shared by Kiara, Simba’s daughter. The action follows the evolution of Mufasa from an orphaned cub to the leader of the kingdom, in the context of a complex relationship with Taka, his brother (the future Scar). At the heart of the story are deep themes such as friendship, destiny and the connection between generations.

The production is enriched with captivating musical moments, both in the original version and in the one dubbed in Romanian.

In the Romanian version, the voices of the characters are provided by acclaimed actors: Adrian Nour (Taka), Alin Pascal (Masego, Mufasa’s father), and Mihai Bisericanu reprises the iconic role of Timon, which he doubles in all productions in the series “The Lion King”.

Who are the actors who bring the iconic characters to life?

Adrian Nour, known for his artistic versatility, provides an outstanding vocal performance for Taka, a lively young prince, Mufasa’s adoptive brother, who is at the center of the story’s conflicts, and who later becomes known as the main antagonist, Scar.

Actor, musician and tap dancer, Adrian Nour has a diverse career with numerous roles in theater and film. Nour collaborates with prestigious institutions in theater, pantomime, contemporary dance and musical performances. Among the most famous productions in which he played are: “Phantom of the Opera”, “Romeo and Juliet”, “Kiss Me Kate” (National Operetta and Musical Theatre “Ion Dacian”), “Nonsense” (Company “Dan Fleur”), “Mamma Mia” (Palace Hall), “My Fair Lady” (Grand Cinema), “Foil, Shakespeare & Co” (Bucharest National Theatre), “Jonah” (Theatre of Romanian Playwrights), “#EmojiPlay” (EXCELSIOR Theatre).

On the musical level, Adrian Nour became known in 2013, when he reached the final of the show “Voice of Romania”. Since then, he has been performing concerts with Trio Zamfirescu and his jazz band. In 2018, he founded sTAP Studiothe first step school in Romania. He also has experience in dubbing, providing the interpretation of the song on the end credits of the Disney film “Vaiana” (2016).

Mihai Bisericanu, the iconic voice of Timon, continues his collaboration with the franchise “The Lion King”bringing consistency and authenticity to a team of actors dedicated to this project. On the big and small screen, he has starred in films such as “Balance”, “The rest is silence” and in the hit series “Less Hot”also participating in various TV shows. He is also highly regarded in the world of dubbing, being recognized for his distinctive and expressive voice that has brought many animated characters to life.

Actively involved in artistic education, Mihai Bisericanu is also a teacher at the National University of Theater and Cinematographic Art (UNATC), contributing to the formation and training of new generations of actors.

Alin Pascal makes his dubbing debut with the role of Masego, bringing authenticity to the character through his musical interpretation. Masego, the original lion king, is the starting point of the story, his Swahili name meaning “blessing”. He is Mufasa’s biological father and Afia’s partner.

Alin Pascal, the son of the famous popular singer Matilda Pascal Cojocărița, gained notoriety after his victory in the televised competition “Do i know you”, which was his launching pad. Since then, he has released several tracks, such as “Violin Soul”, “Your Melody”, “It’ll Be Alright” and others.
