The 52-year-old actor has confirmed he is ready to take on a new challenge as he portrays Russian President Putin at the start of his career as governor.
Directed by French filmmaker Olivier Assayas, the film will feature Law in a supporting role and follow Putin, now 72, “at the beginning of his governing career”, according to Metro.
“I say this with hesitation because I haven’t really started work on this film yet. Actually, I’ve started it, but right now it feels like an Everest to climb, so I’m at the bottom of the mountain and I’m saying to myself:
The movie “The Wizard of the Kremlin” will present a true story from Russia in the 1990s, shortly after the collapse of the Soviet Union. A young television producer, Vadim Baranov, gets to collaborate with a rising politician, Vladimir Putin, and becomes his image advisor.
Olivier Assayas is a French director best known for Irma Vep, Cold Water and Personal Shopper. His work consists mainly of slow-burn period pieces, psychological thrillers, neo-noirs and comedies.
