The Washington Post has asked the travel industry experts about their favorite destinations, less discovered, but where tourists will find fresh, interesting and welcoming places.

“The Black Sea over the Mediterranean Sea? Romania, with its fascinating history, is a convincing alternative to the classic Western European holiday. A recent trip has enchanted Carolyn Addison, the marketing head for the Luxury Black Tomato luxury travel operator. She appreciated Bucharest, the capital of the country, for museums such as Ceausescu’s villa, for the beautiful Orthodox churches and the natural beauty of the parks and the rural landscape. She recommends that you start the trip from Brasov, where visitors love the old preserved city and the Carpathian Mountains in its surroundings ”, informs the US publication in an article with the title “Where we travel in 2025, without agglomeration. 12 destinations to add to this year’s list, from Bahamas to Europe, Australia and Japan. ”

The best known edifice in Brasov is the Black Church. It rises on the site of an older Romanesque church in the 13th century. Its construction began in 1383, when Brasov was in a period of strong cultural and economic development. At the time of its completion, in 1477, the Parish of Brasov, at that time of Catholic rite, received the dedication of Saint Mary. Currently, the Black Church belongs to the Evangelical Cult.

The church erected in the Gothic architectural style was damaged in the fire of 1689, when its walls were blackened, which inspired the name “Black Church”, given in the 19th century.

Travelers who arrive in Brasov are invited to hiking or bicycle rides through the forests of Transylvania, some of the largest and cleaner ecosystems in Europe.

Those who love wild animals can go to the bears observer at Băile Tușnad (Harghita County), where they can safely follow the brown bears in the Carpathians (and red or boars) in their natural habitat, writes Carolyn Addison’s tour guide.

Saint Ana Lake, near Tuşnad resort, is the only volcanic lake in Romania. It formed on the bottom of the crater of a volcano extinguished from the Puciosu Massif, at an altitude of 946 meters. It has no springs, so it complements its waters from precipitation. According to local legends, Lake Saint Ana was frequented by young people in search of the pair.
