Turkey is experiencing serious economic problems, and inflation “melts” from day to another Turkish pound, compared to coins such as Euro and dollar. In contrast, many Romanians still choose to spend their vacation on the Turkish coast, even if that means making more money from their pocket compared to previous years. However, Romanians have an advantage: they are accustomed to increasing prices in Romania, and in Turkey, they say tourists, they are lower.

On a Facebook group intended for Romanian tourists who choose the holidays in Turkey, people have been surprised by the prices that, in some cases, doubled compared to last year. And yet, most believe that prices are lower than in Romania, which is why Turkey continues to choose.

Expensive in Turkey but cheaper than in us

In a post on this group, one of the Internet users posted the updated prices, in the form of a quick guide for tourists. Everything in Turkish pounds, with the mention that a pound is worth 0.11 lei.

“Updated prices from Turkey-June 2025. Rapid guide for tourists: meals and drinks: lunch 2 persons (average restaurant): 1,500 TL, McMeal (McDonald’s): 310 TL, Local beer in Halba (0.5l): 140 TL, Import beer (0.33l): 180 TL, CAPPUCCINO: ~ 130 TL, 130 TL. Pepsi (0.33l): ~ 50 tl, plain water (0.33l): ~ 18 Tl.he said. He then came back with another post, this time with the prices of fuels reported in lei.

Faitating prices in Turkey – June 2 (TP, Istanbul area): 1 liter petrol = 5.27 RON (46.69 TRY), 1 liter diesel = 5.19 RON (45.99 TRY), 1 liter LPG = 2.87 RON (25.41 TRY). How do you find the prices? In Bucharest the prices are about 7 lei for one liter of fuel ”he wrote.

Great differences in the supermarket

The posts started debates on Turkey prices, and the discussions then expanded to other posts on the same topic.

“Great for the Turks the price of diesel”someone wrote, but immediately received the reply: “Equally terrible for the price in Romania for Romanians. ”

Someone else posted the prices of a supermarket. “The same prices as with us … no difference. And even if it is, it is small”someone commented.

There are big differences. From water to detergents. A plain water at 500ml costs 1.5 pounds ie 45 money. A water at 5L costs 6.75 pounds that is, no 2 lei! I found balm at 3 liters with 27 pounds, ie 9 lei. Cigarettes cost 25-27 pounds ie 8-9 lei. I ate in Canakkale 3 dishes with everything with linings, huge plates, with 240 pounds, ie 72 lei. Where do you eat 3 people with 72 lei in Romania? The examples are infinite ””says another internet.

“What the prices have increased to them too. Possibly in a very commercial area will be higher. I took at a very good prices from smaller shops”a tourist noted.

“It is known that Migros is a chain of shops where the products are more expensive! A101, Bim, Sok Market have lower prices”, commented another.

“I do not know how you say they are expensive as with us. The Bax with Pepsi bottles, costs 2 lei 70. You just take a bottle with this money …“Someone wrote.”But the prices for the holidays increased significantly”, Snote someone else.

Plan water, cheaper in Turkish restaurants than in Romanian stores

Another Internet use posted a photo of a flat water bottle taken from a Turkish restaurant for 15 pounds. “Flat water at the restaurant – 15 pounds. How do you think?“He wrote. “I mean 1.66 lei. In us in the restaurant a water at least 10 lei. What the hell do you say …“, Someone said.”Neither in the supermarket you do not take this price ”someone noted.

“It will not be what Turkey was. They already went up with the prices”, It was another opinion. “Yes, better at Eforie with 35 lei the portion of anchovies and 8 lei water,” someone answered. Was immediately completed by someone else. “Better look at what prices you have in Romania and at the mountain and at sea and then to make this comment. We have some prices that you are in Monaco and salaries …”there was another opinion.
