Felix Baumgartner, famous for his historical leap from the stratosphere, has accumulated an impressive wealth, estimated at about 250 million euros. In addition, due to the risky nature of his activity, the athlete ended a very generous life insurance policy, worth 500 million euros.
The tragedy hit on July 17, when Baumgartner suffered a fatal accident in Italy, during a paragliding flight, and after his death, he became known that the life insurance policy was activated and thus a huge amount was to be inherited by his close friends.
According to ProTV, the 500 million euros were collected by the athlete’s family, who chose to keep discretion on the details of dividing this amount, and Mihaela Rădulescu, the woman with whom Baumgartner had a relationship of about 12 years, received objects with a sentimental and symbolic value.
These include several medals obtained by the athlete, one of the equipment used in competitions and a collection watch, but no good financially material.
According to the legislation in Austria, Felix Baumgartner’s native country, the goods and the wealth of the deceased are divided according to the legal order of the heirs. Although the athlete was not married and had no children, his wealth could return to parents, brothers or other close relatives, such as his younger brother, Gerard Baumgartner.
Thus, although Mihaela Rădulescu was an important presence in the life of Felix Baumgartner, from a legal point of view the substantial inheritance will return to its relatives.
The family continues to keep a reserved and discreet attitude regarding the whole situation, respecting, at the same time, the desire of the former athlete and the intimacy of those involved.
