Several PNL mayors sent to Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan that they are willing to give up vacancies, to make a 10% budget economy, but not to be obliged to dismiss employees, a measure that would massively affect their popularity locally, they support liberal sources for Adevărul. Otherwise, the Liberal editors threaten to run from another party in the local elections of 2028. In reply, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan told them that the local public administration must be reduced by 13,000 employees, so by 10%.
PNL mayors are dissatisfied gov.ro
The PNL leaders in the territory sent to Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan that there is a wave of dissatisfaction in the party generated by the mayors. The editors are dissatisfied with the reform of the public administration prepared by the Government. In short, no mayor agrees to kick people out.
“We cannot bear the increase of property taxes and personnel redundancies and stop investments. All this breaks into our heads, because we interact daily with people. How to explain all these bureaus and then ask for their vote? It’s impossible! ”supports one of the liberal mayors of the commune.
Even the ones from the city are not delighted by the measures of Ilie Bolojan. “We, where we could, made reorganizations, institutions, reduced the expenses. But to kick out people from the town hall is very difficult. We are willing to give up vacancies, but not to move on to dismissals ”, explains a mayor of the municipality.
The PNL mayors tried to convince the secretary general of the party, Dan Motreanu, to block the reform proposed by Ilie Bolojan, the sources quoted. Currently MEP, Motreanu is one of the oldest PNL members. But PNL leader Ilie Bolojan remained firmly in position.
“It told us clearly that 13,000 employees from the public administration must leave to reduce the state’s expenses. We understand that the budget deficit is high, but it will be impossible to dismiss 10% of the employees”, Sources from the PNL leadership say.
In fact, the Liberal mayors have threatened that they would leave the party if Ilie Bolojan will ultimately force them to go to dismissions. Several PNL mayors have already been offered by George Simion for a golden candidacy for the local elections of 2028, confirms sources from the PNL leadership.
At this moment, the discussions in the governing coalition on the public administration reform are blocked. Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan insists on reducing the number of employees by 10%, while PSD and UDMR oppose. The leaders of the ruling coalition are waiting for the CCR decision next week on the 2 reform package, then they will discuss package 3. “If the project does not pass the RCC, it is possible for Ilie Bolojan to resign. He wants reforms, not functions. I do not see him holding the chair”, I say the sources quoted.
