Nicușor Dan’s message to Romanians in Great Britain: “I think you represent a huge potential for our country”

“I have a very strong optimism towards Romania, in the medium term”, President Nicușor Dan told the Romanians in Great Britain, during a meeting organized at the Romanian Embassy in London.

The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, met with representatives of the Romanian community in Great Britain, during a visit to the Romanian Embassy in London.

“Thank you for the fact that you are a visiting card of Romania, the image of Romania for many people who have not yet had the chance to visit it. (…) I want to congratulate you for the fact that you remain attached to Romania and here associations are very important, the church is very important and I believe that you represent a huge potential for Romania through what you are. The recurring question is how do we turn a potential into something concrete”said Nicușor Dan.

The head of state said that, following a recent meeting with several associations of Romanians abroad, it was agreed to create a portal dedicated to Romanians outside the borders.

“We are trying to make at least one portal that includes the associations at the beginning, then the specialists in the fields, the Romanian language courses. So that we create a network that helps us all”, Nicusor Dan said.

Also, President Nicușor Dan asked the Romanians in the United Kingdom to have confidence in the direction in which Romania is heading.

“I want to convey to you the very strong optimism I have towards Romania. In the medium term. Many times, we have an emotional view, in the short and very short term, but in order to evaluate ourselves accurately, we must evaluate ourselves over longer periods. (…) We see a country that has doubled its GDP in 10 years and all the assets it has in the next period. There is every chance that Romania will enter the OECD in the middle of next year. There is a maturation, even if delayed, of the public administration in Romania, even if it has some delays in the area of integrity. So there are prospects for Romania to become, in the medium term, the image we make of it”, the president also sent.

On Wednesday, December 17, also in London, the head of state will meet with Romanian representatives of the business environment in the United Kingdom and with leaders of British companies.
